Metaphysical Tastings is a multidisciplinary experience that combines dining rituals and virtual reality.
The project explores the sensorial correlations that originate in the combination of participatory, immersive media and food design and the experiential implications of social gatherings in virtual and physical realities. In Metaphysical Tastings, guests in multiple physical locations are guided through a united tasting experience while entering a series of digital environments designed in correlation with the food served, its colour, texture, sound, and other properties to create a synesthetic journey. For the presentation during the Overkill festival, the experience and composition are recreated site-specifically for the occasion.
The first iteration of the Metaphysical Tastings project was initiated with the support of XRT – Immersive tech for Arts and Culture initiative by Lucas Dewulf in Ghent, Belgium.
